About Us
Following Jesus Christ, celebrating who He is, and sharing His Good News with others.
Highgate International Church (formerly Cholmeley Evangelical Church) is a friendly church family, reflecting London’s international character, based in and around Highgate, North London. Though we are made up of different ages and nationalities, we are united by knowing Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, discovering how he brings forgiveness, freedom and purpose to our lives.
We are an independent church, welcoming those of all church backgrounds or none. We have a heart to minister to those who come through our doors, while equipping all our members to be ministers of the gospel in their homes, streets, schools and workplaces.
We meet together as a church at 11am on a Sunday to worship God, celebrate what He has done in our lives, listen to teaching from the Bible and encourage one another in our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. We have a midweek programme which includes Life Groups and Prayer Meetings on Tuesday and Friday evenings, Toddlers groups on Wednesday and Thursday mornings, our International Café on Wednesday evenings, and Thursday afternoon Community Café.

Re-growing from firm foundations
Highgate International Church is at re-growing stage – a new local church for a new era. Our ethos of church includes a strong sense of being a community, a family, and that the ministry, that goes on within and flows out from a local church, is led and carried out by members with a heart to serve – a blend of those in employment, students and retirees as well as ministry interns and supported church workers.
We are a small church (±30 people) from various backgrounds – with a vision for what God can do in speaking into our communities and spheres of influence through the people who come to join us in this part of London. We believe that at the heart of the Christian faith is relationships, with God, with one another as fellow disciples if Jesus Christ, as well as with all people that we connect with on a daily basis. So our activities as local church are increasingly focussing on being part of small groups for spiritual growth and pastoral care, as well as good places for others to meet Christ – “life groups.” As well as the activities you might expect in a local church, we are also seeking to develop a missions and training centre, so this is a great opportunity to grow as a disciple of Jesus through hands-on service with other people who are keen to welcome and work with one another – with all our differences.
The church has quite a history and we believe we are now on the threshold of a new phase in our development in partnership with various mission and church support groups such as GLO and Counties.
Our Partners
HIC is part of what was the Partnership network of churches, now embraced within Counties Connect. We are also a church revitalisation project which is a combined Counties, GLO and CGT ministry. Many of our missionaries are under the Echoes International mission service agency. So as an independent evangelical church, member of the Evangelical Alliance, we are within a networking of churches identified in this way.
